Rocking Out for Ukraine

On June 28th, four Arizona goth and metal bands got together to rock for Ukraine. The benefit show for Ukraine took place at the Blooze Bar at the initiative of Andre and Birgit Dolhyj of Tans Der Vampyr band based out of Prescott. The Dolhyjs are passionate Ukraine supporters with music fans from Las Vegas, NV to Bisbee, AZ. Rock Against Russia Benefit Concert was band's second show with all proceeds going to support Ukraine. Andre was born in Ohio to Ukrainian parents. He fostered his Ukrainian roots through music from a very young age. He met Birgit in Germany while serving as a Captain in the US Army. Their stage performance is electric and you'll often hear German and Ukrainian languages in their songs.

Andre and Birgit did a wonderful job with the line up and securing the venue donation. The bands put on a great show for us! Our audience was a collection of goth and metal fans and genuine Ukraine supporters. The guests kept returning to the Cactus and Tryzub fundraising table and donated while enjoying delicious Ukrainian food from the famous Ukies food trailer.

The June event benefited Dignitas Fund and raised $1,192 for Ukrainian defenders. Recycled Russian tank bracelets were hot items at the center of our fundraising efforts and sparked curiosity of our guests who wanted to own a piece of Ukrainian history. Bracelets, created in a brutalist style from a captured russian tank, were recycled in once occupied Kyiv region. This metal and paracord creation with a custom inscription “UKRAINE STRONG” can be yours for only $30. Contact us for more info.
