On March 4th, Ukraine supporters in Phoenix gathered at the Arizona Capitol to protest Trump’s decision to pause military aid for Ukraine. The demonstration attracted a passionate crowd, with attendees waving Ukrainian flags, holding signs demanding action, and chanting in solidarity with the Ukrainian community. A highlight of the event was a speech delivered by Katrina Schaffner, a prominent advocate for the Ukrainian community and former congressional contender. Schaffner’s words resonated deeply as she emphasized the urgent need for continued military and humanitarian aid, warning that failure to support Ukraine would embolden authoritarian regimes worldwide. “In America, we are supposed to keep our commitments and stand united for a free word” said Schaffner. Her powerful address was met with cheers and applause, reflecting the crowd’s unwavering commitment to the cause. Many attendees, including Ukrainian immigrants, veterans, and local supporters reinforced the message that pausing Ukraine aid will only benefit russia and increase human cost of the ongoing war. The atmosphere was one of unity and determination, with speakers and demonstrators alike urging Arizona lawmakers to take a stand. The protest in Phoenix mirrored similar rallies across the nation under the title “Stand with American Values”, underscoring the widespread support for Ukraine within the United States. Participants left with a renewed sense of purpose, vowing to continue their advocacy until concrete action was taken. The event was a testament to the resilience of the Ukrainian community in Phoenix and their steadfast dedication to ensuring that Ukraine receives the support it needs to defend its sovereignty and freedom.
